ESPN WINS EIGHT AWARDS, DRAFT TAKES HOME FOUR; FANTASY FOOTBALLERS WIN

LOS ANGELES (January 23, 2018) – The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (“FSTA”) handed out its annual industry awards during its Winter Conference Tuesday, and ESPN walked away with eight wins, including Analyst of the Year (Matthew Berry), Host of the Year (Field Yates), Best Video Show (Fantasy Football Now) and Best Content & News App.
Fantasy Game DRAFT won the association’s “Fantasy Business of the Year” award, as well as, “Best Draft Room,” “Best Games App” and “Best Daily Fantasy Game.”
Podcasters The Fantasy Footballers won the FSTA’s inaugural “Small Fantasy Business of the Year,” as well as, “Best Social Media,” one of two awards voted on by fans. Fantasy sports writer Drew Dinkmeyer was honored with FSTA’s “Humanitarian of the Year” for his efforts in raising over $40,000 for a clean water charity.
“This year marked a record number of nominations for our annual awards,” said FSTA President Paul Charchian. “I think this speaks not only to the enthusiasm and optimism within the fantasy sports industry, but also the current breadth and depth of fantasy content creators, businesses, and innovators.”
In total, 13 companies won awards in 23 categories, voted on by fans, the FSTA membership and an awards committee comprised of industry stalwarts, academics and fantasy players.
In June 2017, a study conducted by Ipsos for the FSTA revealed there are an estimated 59.3 million fantasy sports in the United States and Canada and fantasy sports is now a $7.22 billion industry.
