Tell us about yourself and your organization!
4for4 Fantasy Football is a subscription service, providing our 20,0000+ subscribers with content, rankings and decision support tools for both season-long and daily fantasy leagues.
We are known throughout the industry for our rankings accuracy track record. Senior Editor John Paulsen was named the Most Accurate Fantasy Football Expert by FantasyPros in both 2010 and 2014 and was the runner-up in 2011. In 2012 and 2015, he finished 4th.
Chris Raybon leads our DFS team, and is quickly making a name for himself as one of the brightest, analytical young minds in the fantasy world. Chris was nominated for FSWA’s newcomer of the year award in 2015 after taking over as 4for4 Senior DFS Editor from Jonathan Bales, who left to found Fantasy Labs.
Our team is 100% remote, with people across the USA and the world. Our subscribers are our greatest asset, and we listen to them and focus on solving for their needs.
How did you get your start in the fantasy sports industry?
I came up as a web developer, and got my start doing contract work for 4for4 founder Greg Alan in 2003. As the years went on, my duties expanded beyond development into content and rankings. In 2009, I acquired 4for4 and Mr. Alan moved on to other ventures.
Today I oversee all 4for4 operations. I manage our development team and try to stay out of day-to-day operations as much as possible, although I’m inevitably called in to put out raging fires on the regular. I primarily try to get good people in place and create an environment in which they thrive. Then I mostly try to keep things from breaking.
How many years has your organization been in business?
Eighteen years. It’s been an exciting ride with tremendous growth.
What made you decide to join FSTA?
I originally got interested in the FSTA through the rankings accuracy contests we used to host every year. In 2010, I received a Top-5 Weekly Accuracy trophy from Fantasy Pros at the Winter Conference, but was not there to accept it. I was at home just burning inside, and vowed to not let that happen again. I have been to every Winter Conference since.
What are you looking to get out of your membership with FSTA?
n 2009, when I started working full-time in the fantasy industry, I was working at home alone every day staring at a screen and didn’t know a single person in the fantasy business. The FSTA events have been a fantastic way for me to meet all the great people in the industry, make friends and form valuable business relationships.
Peter and the legal team also need to be recognized for all the hard work they have done over the past couple of years making sure we have a voice at the various legislative tables around the country.
Where do you see the greatest opportunity for growth in the industry?
Digital consumption. The opportunities are limitless.
Finally, what’s your favorite fantasy sport?
Fantasy football pays the bills, so we’ll go with that.
Thanks for sharing, Josh! We hope to see you at the FSTA 2017 Winter Conference.
