13 Days to Vegas: The next generation of fantasy statistics

By Will Mossa,    FSGA Event News

Until the 1980s when Rotisserie Baseball was born, no one had ever heard of the WHIP. Now this calculation of hits and walks per inning by a pitcher is a standard measurement not just for the fantasy player, but for all of baseball.

What will the next generation of sports statistics look like, and how will they play into the fantasy game? That will be the topic of discussion at 2015 FSTA Winter Conference at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on Jan. 15-16.

Four industry experts will join Steve Byrd of Sports Media Executive LLC to look at the recent development of technologies designed to capture and analyze every athlete’s movement. Has this new technology created the potential for a new and innovative set of statistics available in real-time?

At the session on Jan. 16 at 11 a.m., panelists will examine the opportunity and application for “next gen ” stats and advanced analytics in fantasy sports.

Panelists include:

  • David Anderson, Director of Product Development of Second Spectrum
  • Nik Bonaddio, Founder & CEO of numberFire
  • Jim Corelis, Vice President of Development at STATS, LLC
  • Eric Petrosinelli, General Manager, Sports for Zebra Technologies

The session promises to give fantasy business leaders an insight into the future of fantasy sports-but only if you’re on hand to see the presentations.
